Leave by way of cycle route 1. A957, signed Forfar Perth A90

0.2 ml Route leading to harbour if you wish to visit. Otherwise

0.4 ml TL, Green sign Dunnottar Castle also No Entry Sign does not apply to cyclists but beware oncoming vehicles. Steep climb. Lovely views of the harbour on the left’

1.8 mls Dunnottar Castle on the left. NTS Entrance fee applies

2.0 mls Turn left onto the A92.

3.5 mls TL at T jnct. signed Crawton 1ml

3.9 mls T jnct Crawton Bay RSPB bird sanctuary straight ahead for those wishing to visit, otherwise TR

5.3 mls T jnct. Those wishing to visit the beautiful small clifftop village of Catterline and its bay SO, otherwise TR over bridge.

5.5 mls TL at T jnct.

6.0 mls TL at T jnct

7.2 mls T jnct. TL, diversion to Todhead Lighthouse. Climbs.

8.2 mls Todhead Lighthouse and sea cliff views, retrace steps,

9.2 mls, TL at T jnct

11.2 mls TL onto A92. cycle route 1. A busier road. A good freewheel to.

12.4 mls Inverbervie. A quiet,small coastal town. Shops, cafes and a shingle beach.

12.5 mls, by the beach. Route 1, A 5 mile ride along the old railway line to Johnshaven, an old fishing village for those wishing to put in the extra miles. The track is rugged and more suited to mountain bikes.

Inverbervie is approximately halfway and a good lunch stop. Carry on on A92

18.6 mls TL at T jnct, Arbuthnott

21.3 mls Take great care crossing the A90. The main Dundee/Aberdeen road. This is an extremely busy dual carriageway and should be crossed with caution.

Once across take the gated track to the right alongside the railway.

21.6 mls rejoin the road to the left under the railway bridge. Immediately under the bridge TR signed Drumlithie

22.2 mls Drumlithie. TR at T jnct the take left fork immediately after.

23 mls SO at staggered crossroads up hill.

24.2 mls. Gate controlled Level Crossing. TR immediately after and climb.

25.1 mls TR at T jnct

29.7 mls take right turn. Do not carry on down to the A90.

29.9 mls. TR at T jnct. At this point there is the Fetteresso Garden Centre Café for those who have worked up an appetite.

30.7 mls TR towards town centre
